2 WEEK UPDATE:
This puppy is extremely healthy and does not show any signs of weakness in strength. She weighs 4 lbs. 2 oz. at two weeks old.
BIRTH NOTES:
This puppy was born via c-section at around 4:00 pm. She was set back on the uterine horn in pristine condition. If it weren't for the stuck puppy before her, she would have arrived naturally on her own. This puppy latched onto the milk bar readily when presented, almost as if she knew where it was located all along. She eats with gusto. She weighed 1 lbs. 1 oz. at birth.
TEMPERAMENT TEST #2
This puppy continues to remain quiet and calm much (or all) of the time. This puppy was loose, still, and quiet during the lift. This puppy was loose, still, and quiet during the turn. This puppy was quiet and walked slowly around the bottom and sides of the basket for about a minute. She eventually lifted her gently on the sides. It was as if she was calmly assessing the situation. This puppy flinched and cried out when touched on the head in an unfamiliar location. This behavior stopped after one flinch/cry, then she was still and calm. However, her body remained somewhat stiff. This puppy sniffed at the handler after being placed back into the den away from her siblings. Then, she walked back to the puppy pile in a slow and deliberate fashion.
This puppy receives a score of 9 for this second temperament test.
TEMPERAMENT TEST #1:
This puppy's first temperament test is invalid due to the c-section and her initial altered first hours of life. With the current skewed information, she would have received a score of 10+ for her first temperament test, which would not be a true reflection of her natural behavior had she not had the after-effects of the c-section. She was completely quiet with no whining, crying out, or whimpering for many days after birth.
BIRTH NOTES:
This puppy's arrival into the world is quite unusual and therefore, much of the information we normally receive from the first moments after birth are missing. I was able to glean from the veterinary technician that she was quiet and still on the scale. She didn't mind being held and was quiet and still when placed back into the basket while her mother remained on the operating table. However, she may have been coming off of anesthesia from when her mom required a c-section to birth the last two puppies from this litter.
2 WEEK UPDATE:
This puppy is a giant black and silver bi-color. The slight discoloration on her nose has disappeared. Her nose and chin are now completely black. It appears this slight discoloration was a residual white, not a true white spotting, but we shall know more about this when the DNA test results come back. This puppy has light silver eye pips (eyebrows) and light silver legs, as well as light silver under her tail. She may also have a wolf mask. She she ages in the next few weeks, we will be able to see if her muzzle continues to lighten, but there does appear to be some lightness to her muzzle beginning to show. This puppy is robust and broad with a continued plump body size.
BIRTH NOTES:
This puppy is a large black and silver female with a broad head and plump body size. She had a small bit of pink on her nose and chin at birth, but otherwise she was free from white spotting. This puppy has a short, thick tail. It appears she has a short straight coat type.
