This puppy came into the world a large female and extremely quiet and still. (10+) This puppy did not make any noises for the first eight hours after birth. (10+) This puppy is on the lower energy side. She moves when she needs to, but is not desperate or energetic in her movements. (10) This puppy did not move much on the scale, just shifted her head from side to side. She did not make any noise or try to get off of the scale. (10) This puppy was loose and quiet when lifted. Her back was extended and her back feet were completely loose. This puppy was loose and quiet when turned. She tucked her tail around herself, but other than that, no noise or movements. She did move her head to the side in a feeble effort to find the boundary, but she did not continue to push the boundary and easily returned to her relaxed state. She made no noise during this time. (10) This puppy was still for a second before moving forward with her head slowly seeking from side to side. She did not make any noise during the searching phase. She moved forward in a straight motion with her body, but her head continued to slowly move from side to side. She did grunt softly after she moved two steps forward and did not find any recognizable scent or body parts. However, she continued to move forward and eventually touched her mother's leg. She hesitated for a split second and then moved forward in a straight line, no longer moving her head from side to side. She was not in a rush and did not speed up her pace. She made no other noises. She eventually stopped by a sibling and fell asleep. (10) This puppy did not move forward or backward when pet by a human. She did move her body upwards on one stroke, but it was not enough to determine whether this was deliberate reaching for the pet. She made no noise during the pet. (10)
This puppy receives an overall score of 10.3 for this test.
This puppy sat up, startled slightly, and cried out when she heard the loud, unfamiliar noise. She did not move toward or away from the noise. (8) This puppy was still and quiet during the rough pet. She did not make any attempt to move forward or backward from the pet. (9) This puppy was still, loose, and quiet during the lift. (10) This puppy was still, loose, and quiet during the turn. (10) This puppy moved her head slowly and deliberately from side to side when placed into the basket. She grunted twice very softly, as if under her breath. She did not move her body, but only her head as she searched the bottom of the basket. She did not move to look up or sniff up the sides of the basket. (9) This puppy remained with the handler when set back down into the den away from the other puppies. She sniffed the handler's foot and then moved her head around to the other side and sniffed the handler again. She did turn away from the handler and place her body in a pretzel shape, keeping her head in the corner of the den. She then moved it out again, touching the handler once more, then moving back into the corner. She made no sound or attempt to move away from where she was placed. (9)
