This puppy went in one direction without searching. She did not find mom, so she went to sleep where she was. She was not stiff and did not seem to be in distress. She was quiet and calm. Upon waking again, she moved her head back and forth for a few seconds, but again, not finding mom, she went back to sleep. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this section

What is the reaction of this pup when touched by a human?
This puppy was quiet and still when being pet. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this section.

Drop an object into the den away from the pups. This puppy initially flinched, by ducking head and stiffening neck. She then got in closer to the pile of puppies and was no longer stiff. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this category.

Using your whole hand, roughly pet the pup from muzzle to tail. This puppy moved away from the pet going forward and then in circles. She couldn't get away and so moved in all directions. She stiffened her head when pet on the head. This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.

Pick up the pup from its den using your whole hand to simulate mother dog's mouth. This puppy was limp for several seconds then started pumping her feet and began to struggle. She did not whine or grunt, but move her head from side to side and her feet and tail moved vigorously. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this category.

Turn the pup over on its back securely supported. This puppy struggled and grunted. There was some stiffness and she whined out and moved her head back and forth in a half-hearted effort to right herself. This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category. 

Place the pup in a high-sided wicker basket by itself. How does this pup act when separated from littermates? This puppy sniffed around the edges and went in a cirlced looking up. She sniffed high above her as well. She was silent during this time. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this category.

Replace the pup back near its siblings, but not with them.  How does the pup react? This puppy initially lie in place, but looked around. She did not look back at the handler, but after a few seconds went back to the pile of puppies and lied down on top. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this category.
