Headfirst in sack. His birth weight is 1lb 4oz.

.Very quiet male, not a peep. Already standing up on back legs to propel himself forward. Knows exactly where to go and gets there with ease. This puppy did not make a sound on the way to the scale, but he did move around in a circle on the scale in an effort to crawl off. This pup has some excellent qualities. It will be hard to pry him out of my hands. Let's see how he progresses, but so far, I am very impressed with him. This puppy solved a problem of being in the wrong spot by feeling his way around and then quietly solving the problem and finding where to be.

  1. How does this puppy come into the world?

This puppy was quiet and calm. He lies still when mom licks him and does not make much fuss. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section.

2. Noises this pup makes during the first 8 hours of life.

This puppy is quiet much of the time. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this section.

3. What is the energy level of this pup?

4. What is the reaction of this pup to the first medical examination?
This puppy grunted some and moved his head from side to side, but did not move to get off the scale. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section.

5. What is the reaction of this pup when turned over on its back?
This puppy struggled and grunted briefly and then sighed and lay still and quiet. A few seconds later he again briefly struggled and grunted, but then lay still again. This time he lay still until he was turned over again. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section.

6. What is the reaction of this pup when placed back with its mother?
This puppy took a few seconds to react, but then grunted softly, moving his head from side to side and back and forth. He wobbled his body and moved very slowly in a forward direction. He then switched and turned away from his mom for a few steps, increasing his distress signaling until he was crying out softly. He eventually corrected himself and moved cautiously forward, continuing to grunt and cry out. Once he felt his sibling, he moved forward with more assurance. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this section.

7. What is the reaction of this pup when touched by a human?

This puppy immediately moved in a direction away from the touch and closer toward his mother. He grunted softly about it as well. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this section.

  1. Using your whole hand, roughly pet the pup from muzzle to tail.

This puppy moved back a bit when pet. He was not stiff and made no sounds. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section.

  1. Pick up the pup from its den using your whole hand to simulate mother dog's mouth.
