This puppy sniffed around the edges of the scale, but did not seek to move off. She quietly moved her head around from side to side as if searching. This puppy did not cry, whine, or struggle to get off of the scale. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section.

What is the reaction of this pup when turned over on its back?

This puppy took a few moment of silence. She was not stiff, but neither was she loose. She lie still for twenty seconds before giving one loud cry. No struggling, however, was shown. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section. 

What is the reaction of this pup when placed back with its mother?

This puppy went in the correct direction back toward her mother, but then hesitated, sat still for a few seconds shifting her head gently from side to side and then continued in the same direction, back toward mom. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this section

What is the reaction of this pup when touched by a human?
This puppy sniffed  and signed. No flinching, whining, fussing, moving away or toward the handler. This puppy receives a score of 10+ for this section.

Drop an object into the den away from the pups. This puppy initially flinched, by ducking head and stiffening neck. She then got in closer to the pile of puppies and was no longer stiff. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this category.

Using your whole hand, roughly pet the pup from muzzle to tail. This puppy was loose in body, although she propelled herself forward some, but not with gusto. There was no stiffness and she was quiet throughout. When touched on the head, she did not stiffen. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this category.

Pick up the pup from its den using your whole hand to simulate mother dog's mouth. This puppy was completely limp, but move her head from side to side as if looking about. She was completely quiet during this portion of the test. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this category.

Turn the pup over on its back securely supported. This puppy limp and extremely quiet. She moved her head from side to side and yawned once, but was loose in body the entire time. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this category.

Place the pup in a high-sided wicker basket by itself. How does this pup act when separated from littermates? This puppy looked about quietly and then jumped up on the side of the basket and lifted herself up on her back legs. She was tensing her muscles to life herself up as she was lifted out. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this category.

Replace the pup back near its siblings, but not with them.  How does the pup react? This puppy sat still and quiet for a second and looked around. Then, she shook and went directly to the pile of puppies. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this category.
