Head first in sack. Her weight at birth is 1lb 4oz. She has a smaller head than her brother. Also looks to be medium-coated. She is quieter than her brother, who constantly complains verbally. But, she has a set of pipes on her when picked up. She gave a high-pitched scream when lifted onto the scale... didn't like the motion or the touch or something. We'll be keeping on eye out for this to see how it manifests.

1. How does this puppy come into the world?

This puppy was quiet and calm at birth. She did not mind being with mom and was content and relaxed. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section.

2. Noises this pup makes during the first 8 hours of life.

This puppy was quiet all of the time until she was picked up and wooshed toward the scale. At that point, she screamed out at the top of her lungs. She also whimpers when she wants something and does not know how to get it. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this section.

3. What is the energy level of this pup?

This puppy is relatively calm and moves from one place to another with purpose. Is content when suckling, eating, or sleeping. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section.

4. What is the reaction of this pup to the first medical examination?
This puppy bobbed her head and grunted. At one point she moved her head over the edge of the scale and appeared to look or feel empty space. She then immediately moved back on the scale and did not attempt to move off the scale after that. She continued to grunt and move her head back and forth, however. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this section.

5. What is the reaction of this pup when turned over on its back?
This puppy initially struggled and grunted softly. She then became quiet and still for a few seconds only to again struggle and grunt. She continued to grunt, although she did stop struggled and settled into a semi-loose state. She receives a score of 7 for this section.

6. What is the reaction of this pup when placed back with its mother?
This puppy immediately moved in a circle, grunting continuously. She continued to move in a circle, moving clockwise until she became distressed at which point she cried out a few times. When she did not receive help, she then began traveling in a straight distance away from mom. After a few steps, she hesitated and changed direction. She then began to bark, which is quite unusual. It was not a real bark as an adult would make, but definitively a short burst of air and sound emitted from her vocals in rhythmic succession. Whenever she did this, her head raised slightly and she roached her back a small degree, just like a real bark. When she eventually reached mom, she lay still and went to sleep not needing to move further in toward mom's belly. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this section.

7. What is the reaction of this pup when touched by a human?

This puppy took a second to register the event, but then began moving forward in an effort to move away from the touch, grunting continuously. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this section.

1.  Drop an object into the den away from the pups.

This puppy initially flinched, as all the puppies did, but recovered easily. He was not stiff and did not remain quiet and still after the initial sound. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this test.

1. Using your whole hand, roughly pet the pup from muzzle to tail.

This puppy looked up in the direction of the hand, then dropped her head slightly with some brief stiffness. Afterwards, she was quiet and loose. this puppy receives a score of 8 for this section. 

1. Pick up the pup from its den using your whole hand to simulate mother dog's mouth.

This puppy was extremely loose and quiet during the lift. She looked all around and was alert and aware. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this section.

1. Turn the pup over on its back securely supported.

This puppy was loose and quiet during the entire turn. She receives a score of 10 for this section.

5. Place the pup in a high-sided wicker basket by itself. How does this pup act when separated from littermates?

This puppy lie still, but looked around with some caution. She then moved about the bottom of the basket while softly grunting. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section.

1. Replace the pup back near its siblings, but not with them.  How does the pup react?

This puppy lie where she was placed and was silent for fifteen sections. Then, she quietly returned to the pack and went to sleep. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section.

A heavy black/cream female with white paws, white chest and long white-tipped tail. Her left front paw has white spotting to her elbow. Small patch of white on her chin that will disappear in a few days.
