About the Litter

As a third generation American Dirus™ dog litter with fantastic family companion dog temperaments and beautiful giant wolf-like looks.

This litter brings lots of different possibilities within strong boundaries of health, stable temperament, and beauty.

APPEARANCE

We expect ALL puppies to be giant in size weighing 110 - 135 lbs and standing 30 to 31 inches tall at the shoulders. It would surprise me, but there is a slim possibility that few puppies may be extra-large in size, weighing around 100 - 110 lbs and standing 28 inches tall at the shoulders when standing (mostly females).

Statistically, the puppies from this litter will have the following coat color possibilities:

1. 50% white
2. 37.5% black wolf sable (black with light undertones)
3. 9.375 silver or gold wolf sable
4. 3.125% recessive black (solid black)
5. 0% black mask
6. 50% wolf mask (if pigmented)
7. 0% furnishings (mustache)
8. 0% feathering (long hair behind ears/legs and between toes)
9. 0% liver dilute
10. 0% blue dilute
11. 50% yellow eye color
12. 50% amber/brown eye color
13. 50% normal muscling
14. 50% heavy muscling

Some puppies will have a completely solid color with no white spotting on their toes, tail tip, chest/belly, and muzzle. Other puppies will show mild white spotting in those areas. Half of the puppies should show highly slanted, bright yellow eyes. The other half will have amber to brown eye coloring. All puppies should have medium to long double coat types without feathering or furnishings. 25% of the puppies will show some wave to their guard hairs. We expect all ears to rise, although some may take longer to rise than others. Short tails that hang straight down are expected. All puppies should be giant in size, standing 30-31 inches tall at the shoulders and weighing ~130+ lbs as adults.

INHERITED TEMPERAMENT

This litter is a THIRD GENERATION with standard temperament options with some mild deviations.

Some puppies will be more confident than others. All puppies will be submissive and affectionate with their people. Loving, devoted and high intelligence will be especially prominent. Some puppies may have more of a velcro type personality. Some puppies may vocalize when excited or needy. A few may have a high-pitched tenor voice. All puppies should have a desire to remain at home and stay close without a desire to wander or roam. We may have a little more energy and mild drive, although some puppies may have Yeti's calmer, more patience demeanor. We will note any deviation from our unique family companion dog inherited temperament when the puppies arrive.

HEALTH

Both parents have been DNA tested clear of over 250 genetically inherited canine diseases. Equinox has one copy of the incomplete dominant gene for copper toxicosis (ATP7B). The puppies from this litter will be third generation (F3) American Dirus™ dogs. This means that at least three generations of hand-picked DireWolf Dogs™ lie within the pedigree before the most recent crossbreeding, which in this case was a silver Lab/gold GSD cross.

The inbreeding coefficient for this litter is 17.58% on a five-generation pedigree with 63.3% ancestor loss coefficient on a four-generation pedigree. 

Puppies will range in price from $3800 to $5200 for pet quality and more for breeding/show quality.

The Dire Wolf Project will be looking to keep at least two puppies with deep vocals, calm demeanors, with low drives.
