Puppy #1 - Cookie Monster (blue)

This puppy is calm and collected. He is not in your face, but stands back, waits and watches. This puppy is confident, but is not an explorer. He would rather stay in the familiar than boldly go where no dog has gone before. This puppy loves attention and affection, but isn't overbearing about it. He has a sort of aloofness to him that doesn't lend itself to getting in someone's face or crowding. This puppy is quiet and self-confident, but isn't bold. He wags his tail when spoken to and cocks his head, but doesn't immediately get up and come over. This is a sing of calmness in mind and spirit. A great combination of behaviors in this puppy.

Puppy #2 - Prairie Dawn (red)

This puppy is excitable and energetic. She loves to receive affection and attention from people. She is confident and more on the bold side, however, she isn't the first one to explore. She waits for her more confident sister and then has the courage to come following after. She can be quite happy and direct about receiving attention. This puppy is extremely photogenic, seeming to almost pose for the camera. She is aware and alert of her surroundings, but stays cautiously optomistic in life.

Puppy #3 - Abby Cadabby (light blue)

This puppy is extremely outgoing and bold. She is actually fearless and is the first puppy out of the den and exploring all of the new territory. She doesn't mind that her mother is not behind her. She is also very affectionate and outwardly open about her emotions. She loves people and getting pet. She is the life of the party and will be happy in a family with lots of activity and things to do. She is very smart and will be a good learner.

Puppy #4 - Clementine (pink)

This puppy is not as bold as her two sisters and doesn't get in your face or jump up on you, but she is affectionate and interested in being loved on by people. She is extremely smart and somewhat willful. She is more on the independent side and doesn't want to be pushed to do something she doesn't want to do. She is resistent to manipulation by her siblings. This puppy is not as bold as her sister, either, although she will explore outside the den space in unfamiliar territory, she remains cautious and ready to bolt should anything arise to scare her. This is a natural and good response from a little puppy that should not go wandering too far from the den.

Puppy #5 - Maria (purple)

This puppy is very calm and collected. She does not get excited easily and remains in her space. She is not an explorer and does not have any desire to wander or roam. She is a home body and prefers the familiar. I don't have any indication that she is scared of nervous, but she is absolutely disinterested in anything unfamiliar. There was a point today where I thought perhaps she was deaf, which would be a first in our breed. She was lying inside the nursery on her side her with head up again the corner of two walls. I called out to her, but no response - not even a flick of the ear at the sound. She was sleeping, so I went inside the nursery to be closer to her and make a louder noise. Still no response. She was either in a very deep sleep, ignoring me, or deaf. I called even louder. Still nothing. No acknowledgement whatsoever. I then picked up a long stick-like object and touched her gently on the back. She immediately woke and looked around. Okay, not in a deep sleep, but was she ignoring me or deaf? I will be doing more experimenting in the next few days to find out for sure.

This litter is very special for the Dire Wolf Project. Clementine has now been identified as having the true wolf mask through her Embark DNA testing results. She will not be for sale and we hope Clementine will allow us to begin to shift the breed to a true wolf mask in the near future. We are extremely excited for this turn of events.

Because of the DNA testing results, we know that we no longer need to keep Dawn, so she has now gone up for sale. She is the largest puppy in the litter and will be an excellent family companion.

Unfortunately, Monster's DNA test came back with an issue and needs to be redone. On the off chance that he also carries the true wolf mask genes, I must now keep him for the breed in case he holds the elusive true wolf mask trait that is so valuable to the future of the Dire Wolf Project. If he doesn't have this trait, though, once the DNA testing results are returned, we will place him back up for sale. I know several were interested in him, so sorry to have to announce this, but the breed must always come first so that we can continue to bring you only the best puppies for years to come.

Litter Prediction

Enjoy sunny days and sweep the clouds away with this highly anticipated match! We expect puppies from this perfect breeding to be large to extra large in size, standing 28 to 31 inches tall and weighing 100-130 lbs. All puppies will show wolf sable coats with medium to short coat lengths. All puppies will be high seasonal shedders, easily letting go of their fluffy undercoat twice a year when the weather changes. All ears will rise early with tails that lie flat. Half of the litter will show black masks, while the other half will have the wolf mask trait. Some puppies will show hardly any white spotting, while other puppies will show significant amounts of white spotting. All puppies will be highly intelligent and be very close to American Alsatian dog temperament standards. We will note any divergence from the temperament standards, as usual. This is a highly genetically diverse match bringing two separate American Alsatian dog lines together. As a result, the inbreeding coefficient for this litter will be almost null at 1.95% on a five generation pedigree and six known genetic COIs with a 98.67% ancestor loss coefficient on a four generation pedigree. The puppies from this litter will be fourth generation (F4) American Alsatian dogs. Both parents have been DNA tested clear of over 172 genetic diseases identified in dogs from Embark Veterinary and have high immune diversity. Health is guaranteed, as always. We are not looking to co-own any puppies from this litter, but we will keep the best overall large-sized puppy(ies), preferably with a wolf mask (self mask) and at least one copy of the heavy-muscling gene, in this litter to futher the lines.

Puppies will range in price from $2800 to $3800 for pet quality and more for breeding/show quality.

Don't miss out on another litter
